Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy

Ownership and permitted use of university and learner-created materials.

1. Purpose

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY ("REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY," "we," "our," or "the University") is committed to fostering innovation, creativity, academic excellence, and respect for intellectual property rights. This Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy ("Policy") establishes the principles governing the ownership, use, protection, and licensing of intellectual property created, owned, licensed, or used by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY and its community.

This Policy protects the University's educational resources while ensuring that the intellectual property rights of students, faculty, staff, contractors, and third parties are respected in accordance with applicable copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.

This Policy should be read together with the University's Terms and Conditions, Acceptable Use Policy, Privacy Policy, Student Code of Conduct, and Academic Integrity Policy.

2. Scope

This Policy applies to all users of REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY, including:

  • Students
  • Faculty members
  • Instructors
  • Guest lecturers
  • Researchers
  • Employees
  • Contractors
  • Consultants
  • Institutional partners
  • Corporate clients
  • Volunteers
  • Visitors using University resources

It applies to all educational content, digital resources, research outputs, branding, and intellectual property associated with REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY.

3. Copyright Ownership

Unless otherwise stated in writing, all original educational content developed, commissioned, or published by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY is owned by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY or its respective copyright holders.

Protected works include, but are not limited to:

  • Lesson plans
  • Lecture notes
  • Presentations
  • Videos
  • Audio recordings
  • E-books
  • Printed books
  • Workbooks
  • Templates
  • Assessments
  • Examination materials
  • Study guides
  • Research publications
  • Graphics
  • Illustrations
  • Photographs
  • Infographics
  • Software
  • Databases
  • Website content
  • Marketing materials
  • Mobile application content

Copyright protection arises automatically upon the creation of an original work and is protected by applicable national and international copyright laws.

Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, adaptation, or commercial exploitation is prohibited except as expressly permitted by this Policy or applicable law.

4. Course Materials

All course materials provided through REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY are intended solely for the educational use of enrolled students.

Students are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use course materials for their own learning.

Students may not:

  • Copy or reproduce course materials.
  • Upload materials to public websites.
  • Sell or redistribute course content.
  • Share materials with individuals who are not authorized users.
  • Modify or create derivative works without permission.
  • Remove copyright notices or attribution.
  • Use course content for commercial training or consulting without written authorization.

Course access does not transfer ownership of any intellectual property rights.

5. Videos

Educational videos produced or licensed by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws.

Unless expressly authorized, users may not:

  • Download videos outside approved platform features.
  • Record, duplicate, or distribute videos.
  • Upload videos to social media or file-sharing platforms.
  • Edit or remix University videos.
  • Use videos for commercial presentations or training.
  • Remove watermarks, branding, or copyright notices.

Limited viewing is permitted solely through authorized University platforms.

6. Books

Books published, authored, or distributed by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY are protected by copyright.

Unless otherwise permitted by law or license, users may not:

  • Reproduce books in whole or in part.
  • Scan printed books for redistribution.
  • Convert printed books into digital copies for unauthorized sharing.
  • Translate books without permission.
  • Publish excerpts exceeding applicable legal exceptions.
  • Sell or license copies to third parties.

Authors who retain copyright under separate publishing agreements continue to own their respective rights, subject to the terms of those agreements.

7. Workbooks

Workbooks, journals, templates, exercises, worksheets, and downloadable educational resources are intended for the personal educational use of enrolled students.

Users may:

  • Download authorized copies.
  • Print copies for personal study.
  • Complete workbook exercises.

Users may not:

  • Resell workbooks.
  • Upload workbooks to online repositories.
  • Share completed or blank workbooks publicly.
  • Remove copyright notices.
  • Create commercial derivatives.

8. Logos and Brand Assets

The REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY name, logos, seals, icons, slogans, and visual identity elements are valuable institutional assets.

These brand assets may not be:

  • Copied.
  • Modified.
  • Reproduced.
  • Used in advertisements.
  • Used to imply endorsement.
  • Displayed on third-party websites without authorization.
  • Incorporated into other trademarks or logos.

Authorized partners may use approved branding only in accordance with written branding guidelines and applicable agreements.

9. Trademarks

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY owns or licenses various trademarks, service marks, trade names, and branding elements.

These may include:

  • REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY
  • Official logos
  • Program names
  • Certification names
  • Event names
  • University slogans
  • Educational initiatives

Unauthorized use that may cause confusion or imply affiliation or endorsement is prohibited.

Nothing in this Policy grants any license or ownership interest in the University's trademarks unless expressly stated in writing.

10. Student-Created Content

Students generally retain ownership of the original intellectual property they create during their studies, including essays, projects, artwork, research, software, presentations, and other original works, unless otherwise agreed in writing or created under a separate contractual arrangement.

By submitting work through REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY platforms, students grant the University a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Receive and assess submissions.
  • Store academic records.
  • Conduct plagiarism detection.
  • Provide academic feedback.
  • Maintain archival copies as required by law or institutional policy.

With the student's permission, the University may also showcase exemplary work for educational or promotional purposes, unless another legal basis applies.

Where projects are created jointly with faculty, sponsors, or institutional partners, ownership and licensing will be governed by the applicable agreement.

11. Recording Restrictions

To protect the privacy of participants and the intellectual property of instructors, users may not record, photograph, livestream, or otherwise capture University classes, webinars, meetings, examinations, or educational sessions without prior written authorization.

This restriction applies to:

  • Audio recordings.
  • Video recordings.
  • Screen recordings.
  • Screenshots of protected content where prohibited.
  • Live broadcasts.
  • AI-generated transcripts created through unauthorized recording.

Authorized recordings remain subject to applicable copyright and privacy obligations.

12. Fair Use and Permitted Exceptions

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY recognizes that copyright laws in many jurisdictions provide limited exceptions—such as fair use, fair dealing, quotation, criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.

Where such exceptions apply, users should ensure that:

  • Only the amount reasonably necessary is used.
  • The use is lawful.
  • Proper attribution is provided where appropriate.
  • The use does not unreasonably prejudice the legitimate interests of the copyright owner.

Nothing in this Policy expands or restricts rights granted under applicable copyright law. Users are responsible for ensuring that their reliance on any legal exception is appropriate.

13. Copyright Infringement Reporting (DMCA and International Equivalents)

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects all users to do the same.

If you believe that material available through our Services infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notice containing:

  • Your full name and contact information.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  • Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury where applicable, that the information provided is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Where applicable, REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY will process notices in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or the equivalent copyright procedures under the laws of the relevant jurisdiction.

Upon receiving a valid notice, the University may investigate the claim, remove or disable access to the material, notify the affected user, and provide an opportunity to submit a lawful counter-notification where appropriate. Repeat infringers may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

14. Licensing Terms

Unless otherwise expressly stated in writing, all educational content provided by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY is licensed—not sold.

The University grants users a limited license to:

  • Access authorized educational materials.
  • View online content.
  • Download materials specifically designated for download.
  • Print copies for personal educational use where permitted.
  • Use materials solely in connection with their enrolled studies.

The license is:

  • Personal.
  • Non-exclusive.
  • Non-transferable.
  • Revocable.
  • Limited to non-commercial educational purposes.

Users may not:

  • Transfer the license to another person.
  • Sublicense University materials.
  • Commercialize any content.
  • Reverse engineer proprietary software or digital resources where prohibited by law.
  • Remove copyright notices or technological protection measures.

Any rights not expressly granted are reserved by REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY or the applicable intellectual property owner.

15. Enforcement

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY takes violations of intellectual property rights seriously.

Where a violation is identified, the University may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Issue a warning.
  • Require removal of infringing material.
  • Suspend access to University platforms.
  • Revoke course access.
  • Revoke certificates obtained through fraudulent use of protected content.
  • Terminate user accounts.
  • Pursue civil remedies.
  • Refer serious matters to appropriate legal authorities where applicable.

Enforcement measures will be proportionate to the nature and seriousness of the violation.

16. Policy Updates

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY may amend this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, technology, educational practices, or institutional operations.

Updated versions will be published with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of University Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
