1. Purpose

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY ("REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY," "the University," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, honesty, fairness, and ethical conduct in teaching, learning, research, and scholarship.

Academic integrity is fundamental to the credibility of our qualifications, the value of our educational programs, and the trust placed in our graduates by employers, institutions, churches, ministries, businesses, governments, and society.

This Academic Integrity Policy establishes the expectations, responsibilities, and procedures relating to academic honesty for all students, faculty, instructors, researchers, staff, and collaborators.

This Policy applies to every person participating in REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY academic activities, including:

Every member of the REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY community is expected to uphold the following principles:

4. Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to:

Submit only their own original work unless collaboration is authorized.
Properly acknowledge all sources of information.
Cite references using the required citation style.
Follow examination instructions.
Complete assessments honestly.
Protect the confidentiality of examination materials.
Report known academic misconduct where appropriate.
Use AI tools responsibly and in accordance with University and course-specific requirements.
Seek clarification from instructors when uncertain about academic expectations.

5. Faculty and Instructor Responsibilities

Faculty members and instructors are responsible for:

Clearly communicating academic integrity expectations.
Designing fair and meaningful assessments.
Providing guidance on proper citation and research practices.
Using appropriate methods to detect academic misconduct.
Investigating alleged violations fairly and consistently.
Maintaining confidentiality throughout disciplinary processes.
Modeling ethical academic behavior.

6. Forms of Academic Misconduct

Academic misconduct includes, but is not limited to, the following:

6.1 Plagiarism

Plagiarism is presenting another person's words, ideas, research, creative work, or intellectual property as one's own without proper acknowledgment.

Examples include:

Copying text without citation.
Paraphrasing without attribution.
Submitting another student's work.
Using purchased essays or assignments.
Copying from books, journals, websites, or AI-generated sources without disclosure where required.

6.2 Cheating

Cheating involves gaining or attempting to gain an unfair academic advantage.

Examples include:

Using unauthorized notes or devices during examinations.
Copying another student's work.
Receiving unauthorized assistance.
Sharing examination questions or answers.
Accessing examination materials before an assessment.
Altering graded work for re-evaluation.

6.3 Fabrication and Falsification

Fabrication is inventing information or data.

Falsification is manipulating or altering information dishonestly.

Examples include:

Inventing research findings.
Creating false references.
Altering laboratory results.
Falsifying attendance records.
Misrepresenting participation.
Forging academic documents.

6.4 Contract Cheating

Students must not:

Purchase assignments.
Hire another individual to complete coursework.
Pay third parties to sit examinations.
Submit ghostwritten work.

Contract cheating is considered a serious violation of University policy.

6.5 Unauthorized Collaboration

Collaboration is encouraged only when expressly authorized.

Unauthorized collaboration includes:

Completing individual assignments together without permission.
Sharing completed assignments.
Jointly preparing examination responses.
Allowing another person to substantially contribute to work intended to be completed individually.

6.6 Self-Plagiarism

Students may not submit substantially the same work for more than one course or assessment without prior written approval from the instructor.

This includes:

Reusing essays.
Recycling research papers.
Republishing previous assignments.
Reusing significant portions of earlier submissions.

6.7 Impersonation

Students must not:

Take examinations on behalf of another individual.
Allow another person to complete coursework under their name.
Use another student's account.
Misrepresent their identity during assessments.

6.8 Misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY recognizes that AI technologies can support learning when used ethically and transparently.

Students may use AI tools where permitted by the instructor for activities such as:

Brainstorming ideas.
Improving grammar and writing.
Language translation.
Coding assistance.
Study support.

Students must not:

Submit AI-generated work as entirely their own where disclosure is required.
Use AI during examinations unless expressly authorized.
Fabricate references, research findings, or data using AI.
Circumvent learning objectives through unauthorized AI assistance.
Misrepresent AI-generated content as original scholarship.

Course instructors may establish additional AI requirements or restrictions. Students are responsible for complying with those instructions.

7. Research Integrity

Research conducted under the auspices of REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY shall adhere to recognized ethical standards.

Researchers are expected to:

Conduct research honestly.
Obtain required ethical approvals.
Respect participant rights.
Maintain accurate research records.
Report findings truthfully.
Disclose conflicts of interest.
Protect confidential information.
Properly acknowledge collaborators and funding sources.

8. Examination Integrity

Students must:

Arrive prepared.
Follow all examination instructions.
Present valid identification when required.
Refrain from communicating with others during examinations unless authorized.
Use only approved materials.
Immediately report suspected examination irregularities.

Remote examinations may include identity verification, browser controls, or remote proctoring where appropriate and consistent with applicable privacy laws.

9. Reporting Academic Misconduct

Any member of the University community may report suspected academic misconduct.

Reports should include:

A description of the alleged violation.
Supporting evidence, where available.
Relevant dates, times, and individuals involved.

The University will review reports impartially and confidentially. Knowingly making false or malicious allegations may itself constitute misconduct.

10. Investigation Procedures

When an allegation is received, REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY will:

Conduct a preliminary review.
Notify the student or individual concerned.
Provide an opportunity to respond.
Review available evidence.
Determine whether a violation occurred.
Communicate the outcome in writing.

Investigations will be conducted fairly, impartially, and in accordance with applicable institutional procedures.

11. Sanctions

Sanctions will depend on the seriousness of the violation, whether it is a first or repeated offense, and any mitigating or aggravating circumstances.

Possible sanctions include:

Educational warning.
Written warning.
Mandatory academic integrity training.
Resubmission of work.
Reduced grade.
Assignment failure.
Examination failure.
Course failure.
Suspension.
Expulsion.
Revocation of certificates, diplomas, or awards obtained through fraud or serious misconduct.
Referral to relevant professional, licensing, or legal authorities where appropriate.

12. Appeals

Students may appeal disciplinary decisions where permitted by University procedures.

Appeals should normally be based on one or more of the following:

Procedural error.
New evidence that was not reasonably available during the original investigation.
A decision that was clearly unreasonable based on the available evidence.
A sanction that is disproportionate to the established violation.

Appeals must be submitted within the timeframe specified by the University.

An independent reviewer or appeals committee, where practicable, will consider the appeal. The University's decision following the appeal will be final unless otherwise required by law.

REWTTEERS UNIVERSITY is committed to educating students and faculty about ethical academic practices.
